WESTERN ONTARIO HANDGUN LEAGUE

The Port Elgin Sportsmens Club (PESC) competes along with six other clubs in a .22 rimfire pistol league. There are different classes for different caliber of skills, each competing only against their own class. The PESC members meet on wednesday night at the indoor range where members of the league practice. A member is not obligated to compete as this is only for those who wish to do so. Wednesday nights is the nights where PESC members congrigate to chat and meet people of the same interest.
INTERNATIONAL PRACTICAL SHOOTING CONFEDERATION (IPSC)
IPSC is done with a centerfire semi-automatic pistol, holster and usually more than four magazine clips. The idea of this sport is to come up with a scenario that involves cardboard targets as well as steel targets shot at anywhere from point blank to as far as 50 meters. Good scores depend on your shooting skill, your speed and your accuracy. Members will decide what day of the week and time that IPSC will be shot.
Pistol silhouette is shot with a .22 rimfire handgun or centerfire handgun, revolvers, single shot or semi automatics are all good choices. The silhouettes are chickens at 25 meters, pigs at 50 meters, turkeys at 75 meters and rams at 100 meters. This game involves a little more homework as far as knowing where your handgun is shooting at the four different ranges. Starting with a .22 lr is the best way to start and cheapest if the shooter doesn’t own reloading equipment. With a little practice this can be a very addictive game.
